Horticultural Technician
Overview: As a Horticultural Technician for Schmidt Landscape Services, Inc. you’ll maintain and enhance home and commercial landscapes by meticulously caring for client’s gardens.Your success will be determined by your ability to provide consistent quality results, your level of reliability and dependability, and a capability to work well with your team while maintaining an attitude of enthusiasm and pride. We’re looking for a professional who is looking to develop themselves within the industry or one who is already an expert in the field.
Responsibilities: Horticultural Technicians experience a lot of variety and challenges in their work. Gardening teams typically work in pairs providing routine maintenance of gardens throughout the Madison area where we provide: weed control, pruning, mulching, watering, plant replacement and bed installation.
Preferences: Previous experience in gardening and ornamental horticulture and history operating large vehicles and pulling trailers. Functional knowledge of typical plants used in home landscape and their subsequent care. Functional knowledge of the operation of equipment related to the industry.

To be seriously considered for this role you need to: 1) Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record 2) Have a reliable vehicle to commute to our Belleville location daily. 3) Ability to lift at least 50 pounds 4) Ability to walk, lift, bend, squat, kneel repeatedly throughout the course of a work day 5) Ability to tolerate extreme weather, both hot and cold.
Landscape Construction Technician
Overview: As a Landscape Construction team member for Schmidt Landscape Services, Inc. you’ll work with a team to create and enhance both home and commercial landscapes. Your success will be determined by your ability to provide consistent quality results, your reliability and dependability, and a capability to work well with your team while maintaining an attitude of enthusiasm and pride.
Responsibilities: Landscape Construction team members experience a variety of projects as well as exciting challenges in their work. Landscape construction teams work in pairs or threes. Projects include grading and drainage systems, paver and natural stone patios and walkways, raised patio and step systems, block, snapped stone and boulder retaining walls, fire pits and fireplaces, and pergolas. Projects vary in scale and scope, spanning between 2 and 14 days.
Preferences: Previous experience in hardscape or construction trades of 3 to 4 years. Strong basic math skills. Ability to functionally shoot grade. Operational experience with joystick controlled skid steers, compaction equipment, saws and other related small engine equipment. Class A or Class B commercial driving license.
